Hot Ham, Cheese and Egg Toasts

Hot Ham, Cheese and Egg Toasts

15 min

A sandwich breakfast that comes together in five minutes: ham and cheese between the slices, a window cut out of the top one and an egg cracked into it. The white sets, the yolk stays runny and the cheese pulls inside.

Ingredients

4 servings
Sandwich bread8 slices
Ham4 slices
Cheese(good melter, such as Emmental)4 slices
Eggs4 pcs
Butter(cubed)20 g
Salt1 pinch
Ground black pepper1 pinch

Instructions

1
Cut a round window in the centre of four slices with a glass — these will be the top halves.
2
Put four whole slices in the air fryer basket and top each with ham and cheese.
3
Cover with the windowed slices and press lightly around the edges.
4
Drop a cube of butter into each window and crack in an egg. Season with salt and pepper.
5
Cook at 180 °C (356 °F) for 10 minutes — until the white is set and the bread is golden at the edges.
6
Serve hot: the yolk should still be runny.
💡Tip
Keep the cut-out rounds
Toast them alongside and serve as bread chips for dipping in the yolk.
